Mentorship Program expands

This weekend, we held our first “retreat.” Complete with two days of reTREATing & reDIRECTing.

On Friday night, Dynamic Church converted a room at the Y into a beautiful banquet. Moms enjoyed a lovely dinner, followed by an inspirational talk. Mary Edwards, an amazing mom 24/7 and Program Director with Chambliss Center by day, shared her incredible story of overcoming poverty to reach her goals and continue to work to help other moms do the same. Mary’s story was followed by considering our own stories as each mom was given an opportunity to share a meaningful part of her life prompted by deep questions. After getting to know each other more, moms enjoyed pampering provided by Megan Steventon with Arbonne & Nicole Wellington with Mary Kay. While moms were relaxing and reTREATing, our kiddos had a blast at the Hamilton Family YMCA.

Saturday, we were relaxed and ready to reDIRECT our focus. Seven new mentors joined us to connect and grow together. We began with a brunch provided by a small group with Calvary Chapel Chattanooga, a motivational talk on shifting our perspective & committing to staying the course on the path toward success by Lexi Bozarth, motivational speaker and outreach coordinator with Choices. After being motivated, moms were given practical ways to reDIRECT their assets to maximize their stewardship of time, money and influence. Mentors worked one-on-one with each mom to help her to set financial, relational and time goals and create a strategy to reach them.

Each mentor will continue to connect with her mentee on a weekly basis. We are so excited about having more members of our village to help single moms and their children build a better future through Higher education. Stay tuned for updates!
