The primary purpose of our Scholar Success Program is to empower moms to build networks with other moms, community leaders and business partners that will be a catalyst that helps them build momentum.
What do MOMentum Network Scholars receive?
Up to $1,200/year in scholarship money if you are attending a 2-year college, $2,400/year in scholarship money if you are attending a 4-year college disbursed in monthly installments.
Community–each Scholar is part of a tribe that includes at least one mentor, student ally and single mom friend that walks with you through out the year to provide encouragement, guidance and practical support.
Support of The MOMentum Network staff, who can help you access resources, manage crises, etc.
Trainings in life skills, career readiness, etc.
Connections to professionals offering services to meet practical and professional needs.
Access to an Emergency Fund for financial crises
Access to fun, family-friendly activities
Who is eligible to be a scholar?
You must be a single mother (defined as pregnant/expecting, not married/contractually separated/not living with a partner)
You must have custody of at least one child under the age of 11.
You must be attending or enrolled in college starting the Fall semester in the Greater Chattanooga area and seeking an undergraduate two or four-year degree
You must be a US Citizen, legal US Resident
You must submit a copy of your Student Aid Report (SAR) or proof of FAFSA submission
You must be planning to take a minimum of 9 credits at least 2 semesters out of the year.
What are the requirements of The MOMentum Network Scholars?
Meet with your mentor in-person at least once a month, and communicate at least every other week
Attend an initial training in July and at least one additional training each semester.
Attend the Gather Gala each May
Respond to communication from MOMentum Network staff within 24 hours
Maintain a GPA of 2.5 or above and a minimum of 9 credits per semester
