Having a baby doesn’t end your dreams.
It makes them even more important.
Scholar Steps helps pregnant students and single moms keep moving toward the education, career, and future they want for themselves and their children.
With coaching, community, practical support, and connections, we help you turn your goals into a plan — and your plan into progress.
You do not have to live at Scholar Village to participate.
A plan. A coach. A community.
Scholar Steps is Momentum’s non-residential coaching and community program for pregnant students and single moms pursuing college and a living-wage career.
A Plan
Identify your goals and priorities, then build a practical plan for school, career, and family stability. Start with clear steps you can take now.
A Coach
Work with a coach who helps you reflect, explore options, follow through, and keep progressing toward college completion.
A Community
Connect with other moms, people, and resources that can support your education and help you build lasting stability.
ELIGIBILITY
You do not need to have everything figured out. But you do need to be ready to take steps forward.
You do not have to be perfect. You do have to be willing to participate, learn, and keep moving.
Come ready to reflect, build healthy support systems, and take practical action toward your education and career goals.
Scholar Steps is designed for pregnant students and single moms who meet these requirements:
- You are 18 years or older.
- You are currently pregnant, or you are a single mother to at least one child and have at least 50% custody of that child.
- You have a high school diploma or GED and have not already attained a bachelor’s degree.
- You are ready to start or go back to college in the next 6 months.
- You are able to attend a personal development course weekly for 6 weeks.
- You have at least one child under the age of 10. Priority is given to children under 5.
One step at a time.

Share where you are now, what you’re working toward, and what support you’re looking for.
2. Complete your Momentum MAPP
Take an honest look at your goals, strengths, priorities, and areas where support could help.
3. Build your plan
Work with your coach to choose practical next steps for education and family stability.
4. Get connected
Begin building relationships with people, community, and resources that support your goals.
5. Keep moving
Participate consistently, follow through, and review your progress as your plan grows with you.

COMMUNITY AND SUPPORT
Independence doesn’t have to mean doing everything alone.
Strong people build strong networks. Healthy interdependence means taking responsibility for your goals while learning to give and receive support.
Scholar Steps helps you build relationships with people and organizations that can support your education, childcare, career, friendships, and family stability.
Your network can include other moms, an academic advisor, a childcare provider, a career connection, trusted friends, and your Momentum coach. You can build that network one relationship at a time.
